These hand-crafted figurines made today by Boardman's craftsmen are from the craft-masters original bronze molds from yesteryear. In keeping with the
rich traditions of the past, the molds are once again used in the same manner. The first set of these figurines was originally modeled in 1930 and sold under
the name of Crest Silver Co. of New Haven, Connecticut for avid collectors of pre-historic figurines. In 1942, the company was acquired by J. C. Boardman and Co., Inc. of Wallingford, Connecticut and, under the
supervision of Joseph C. Boardman, the rich tradition of hand-cast bronze figurines continued.
In 1962, J. C. Boardman and Co., Inc. were commissioned by the Smithsonian
Museum to extend the collection and produce a line of pre-historic figurines based upon drawings of various animals by the curators of the museum. The figurines were modeled and bronze molds were created. The figurines were
sold at the Smithsonian Museum to avid collectors from around the world for many years. After many successful years of producing the collection, interest in the collection slowed down and the molds were retired.
After the release of the popular movie "Jurassic Park" in 1993, Boardman Silversmiths reintroduced the bronze molds. Once again, these unique hand-cast bronze figurines are being created in the rich traditions of the
past and are again available to collectors. Collect them individually or purchase the entire set to enjoy for years to come.
